June 20, 2007
Greetings Northern Exposure Fans!
A reminder that the 2007 informal Moosefest will be happening July 27 to 29 in beautiful Roslyn, Washington.
We expect about 25 fellow fans to gather, eat, drink, shop and just generally enjoy each other's company. And oh, we'll probably engage in some Northern Exposure activities too: visiting filming sites, watching episodes, playing trivia, sleeping in trees and diving naked off cliffs (well... maybe not those last two, but then again, it wouldn't be too surprising).
As an "informal" Moosefest there is no pre-defined schedule. We certainly want to hook up with anyone making the journey, so we've got a new system this year. There will be a flyer on the bulletin board at the Post Office in downtowm Roslyn (next door, across the field from Joel's office). The flyer will have a coded Northern Exposure phrase and have a cell phone number on it. Call that number, and we'll let you know where we are at that moment and how to meet up with us.
Most people will arrive Thursday or Friday and rent a car at the Sea-Tac airport for the 90 mile, 2 hour drive to Roslyn. Reply to this email if you'd like to join a carpool from the airport. There is also an airport shuttle to Cle Elum, just four miles from Roslyn. Travel details to Roslyn are at http://www.moosefest.org/directions.html
Probably most of the lodging in Roslyn is booked for Moosefest. However, there are many fine establishments in Cle Elum. Details are at http://www.moosefest.org/lodging.html
If you are planning on attending this year, would you please reply and let us know? That way we can be on the lookout for you!
And don't forget a return to the more "formal" Moosefest style with a registration and scheduled events next year, July 25-27, 2008!
August 23, 2006
Greetings Northern Exposure fans!
Twenty-six people attended the informal Moosefest 2006 three weeks ago. We played some trivia, visited filming sites in and around Roslyn, but mostly hung out with and enjoyed the pleasure of each other's company.
A special moment of the weekend was presenting a check from Moosefest 2005 donations to the Roslyn library for restoration of the library and city hall. That story and fans' photos from the weekend will be on our website at http://moosefest.org/MF2006.html soon.
Please plan on joining us again next summer, July 27 to 29, 2007 for another informal Moosefest. And then plan on the formal Moosefest July 25 to 27, 2008.
August 11 , 2006 - 'Moosefest' Northern Exposure Fans Donate to City Hall Restoration and 2007 Informal Fest Dates Announced
Roslyn, Washington – Ten years after Northern Exposure aired its final episode, fans again gathered last month to celebrate the popular CBS comedy filmed in Roslyn. Moosefest, named in honor of the moose in the show’s opening credits, drew attendees from across the country to Roslyn and the upper Kittitas County.
Moosefest fans presented a donation to Friends of the Roslyn Library toward the City Hall restoration project. The $1711.50 donation was raised by the fans in a raffle and auction during last summer’s Moosefest 2005. The donation continues a seven-year tradition of Moosefest donations to Roslyn and Northern Exposure related non-profit organizations.
Moosefest is sponsored by Friends of Roslyn, a Washington 501(c)3 charitable organization formed by Northern Exposure fans, and dedicated to enhancing arts education in the Roslyn area.
Moosefest fans will again gather informally in Roslyn July 27 to 29, 2007.
February 8, 2006 - 2006 Informal Gathering Dates
Greetings to all Northern Exposure fans...
The Moosefest Planning Committee has selected the dates for the informal Moosefest 2006 gathering as July 28 to 30 (the traditional last weekend in July).
What does "informal" mean? It means there won't be a registration fee, nor catered dinners, bus tours or other "formal" events.
What there *will* be is having lots of fun with other Northern Exposure fans. We'll visit filming sites such as Ruth Anne's grave and Joel's Rash Hashanah cliff, dine in the Roslyn Cafe with the famous mural, drink in The Brick, and generally enjoy the company of the wonderful, fun and friendly people that are NX fans.
All Northern Exposure fans are welcome to come along and enjoy the fun. All expenses are paid on your own. Local lodging can be found at the Lodging page.
About future Moosefests, we were surprised at the amount of interest in continuing a "formal" Moosefest with the paid registration fee. So we are tentatively planning on putting on another formal Moosefest in Summer 2008.
We hope to see you this summer, July 28 to 30 in Roslyn, Washington!

MOOSEFEST 2006
As previously announced, there will be an "informal" gathering of Northern Exposure fans in Roslyn next summer. Informal means there will be no registration or advance fee, schedule, catered dinners, rented halls, rented buses, celebrity guests or anything else that requires money or planning. What it will be is friends getting together in a special town, enjoying each other's company, shopping, drinking, eating, making visits to the cliff and other special sites, and engaging in other pay-for-it-yourself activities. All Northern Exposure fans are welcome. Once a specific date has been picked, it will be announced to this list, and published on www.moosefest.org.

June 26 , 2005 - Moosefest 2005 to be the last one - so don't miss it!
On July 26, 1995, the last episode of Northern Exposure aired on CBS. In the last 10 years, fans have enjoyed NX in syndication, as well as the release of the first three seasons on DVD. Many also have enjoyed a formal gathering of fans in Roslyn, Washington, every summer since 1997.
Like our favorite show, all good things must come to an end. The planners of Moosefest have decided it's time to hang up our moose antlers. If you've been putting off your visit to Roslyn or thinking about next year, don't! This is the year to come celebrate this fantastic show, to see Cicely's real-life counterpart (Roslyn, Washington), and to meet fellow enthusiastic fans. It's been a great run and we plan to have a lot of fun -- full moon and all!
June 25 , 2005 - Phone interviewees confirmed!
John Cullum (Holling), Diane Delano (Sgt. Barbara Semanski), and Rob Morrow (Joel) are set for Saturday's phone interviews. We are still chatting with others to do interviews or attend in person and will finalize those soon.
